Ryan Barrett is a musician with a primary focus on jazz piano. He also plays all of the clarinet and saxophone families as well as English Horn and French Horn. He is a student at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts (BISFA), a US News and World Reports top ten school in Maryland. He began playing piano in 2015 and has been adding additional instruments to his repertoire since 2019. Ryan has been selected for numerous honors bands, including county and regional bands. He was selected for the 2024 and 2025 Maryland All-State Commercial bands on tenor sax and keys, respectively. He was also selected for the 2025 NAfME Eastern Division All-Eastern Honors Modern band on keys. He is currently the lead tenor saxophone for BISFA’s jazz ensemble and plays keys/ synth in the BISFA commercial band, where he also assists with arranging pieces for the band. He has been the student music director for BISFA’s All School Musicals since his freshman year. These include SpongeBob The Musical (2023), The Addams Family (2024), and Once Upon a Mattress (premiers 2025). He also played clarinets and saxophones in the pit for The Addams Family and will be on bass clarinet/ French horn for Once Upon a Mattress.
